Mobile TV key app on new Telenor service
4 July, 2008 - 09:40Nokia is to cooperate with the Norwegian telecoms operator Telenor ASA on mobile services to accelerate the adoption of new Internet services on the Ovi services platform provided by Nokia.
As part of the collaboration, specific Nokia devices will be customised to provide easy access to both companies' selected services such as mobile TV. Other services such as Nokia Maps, N-Gage and Telenor Music Store will also be available with more to follow.
The services will be launched during the second half of 2008 across a wide range of devices. In addition to its domestic market, Telenor and Ovi services will be offered to customers in Norway, Sweden and Denmark as well as in Hungary.
Nokia and Telenor have also agreed on business models and further collaboration on mobile Internet services in a bid to protect the companies' market positions in the market.
Telenor boasts nearly 83m subscribers in 12 countries and a provider of television services in the Nordic region. Telenor has some 27,600 employees and annual revenues of nearly NOK70bn.
