SPB TV is a mobile IPTV viewer with TV-like usability, initially designed for tuning in to publicly available digital TV channels. SPB TV is claimed to feature exclusive and patent-pending usability innovations and gives the mobile subscribers access to over a hundred of international TV channels, directly from their phones.
The application supports what SPB calls must-have TV features including a TV browser with quick channel previews, an accessible TV guide for all offered channels, and quick channel switching.
The version for Mobile Network Operators allows carriers to couple SPB's solution with their own infrastructure and various subscription models. To enhance support for growing variety of platforms among subscriber terminals, SPB Software have added support for a few more platforms, and now SPB TV is available for the iPhone, webOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
The operator solution can scale to up to 2000 simultaneously connected clients per server from signal sources including satellite, cable and IP-streaming. It offers streaming codec support for MPEG4, H.264, dedicated monitoring server and video-on-demand. Also included is a management system and integrated thumbnail and EPG servers.
The MNO Client enables video-on-demand with ad support and a quick channel preview (picture-in-picture) featuring an integrated full week's TV guide with calendar reminders for TV shows. There is full support for hardware buttons plus video codec support for MPEG4 and H.264.
