Telegent targets world mobile TV market
25 January, 2008 - 10:08Flying in the face of the standards battle that has existed in the mobile TV industry, Telegent Systems has launched what it believes is the industry's first single-chip CMOS mobile TV receiver supporting worldwide TV broadcast standards.
The new TLG1120 delivers global support for NTSC, PAL, and SECAM TV broadcasts, expanding the market for mobile TV and, says the company, providing consumers with the same live, familiar content that they view and enjoy in their home.
"With its support for all major broadcast TV standards, the TLG1120 expands the mobile TV market to countries where antilog broadcasts are the only standards available for mobile or fixed TV," said Weijie Yun, president & CEO of Telegent Systems.
The TLG1120 includes an RF tuner, demodulator, decoder, video processing, scaler, FM stereo radio and universal interface in a 7 x 7 mm QFN package. It is clamed to provide the highest sensitivity to deliver a positive consumer experience and ultra-low power for extended TV viewing and portable operation.
SureTrak DSP-based multi-path and Doppler compensation technology is rated as providing stable picture quality for speed up to 430 km per hour.
With its small size, BOM and design, Telegent believes that the TLG1120 will likely see use in mobile handset, portable media player, portable navigation, in-car and portable entertainment and flat panel display applications.
"Additionally, operators worldwide can use free-to-air mobile TV to recruit and retain subscribers and as a platform for developing incremental revenue streams from premium content, targeted advertising, increased SMS traffic and data exchange," added Yun.
