Univision says hola to BlackBerry
8 March, 2010 - 08:39Univision Interactive Media, the digital division of the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, has announced the availability of its new Univision Video App on BlackBerry App Worlds.
Joining an increasing number of such mobile video products for the leading smartphone, the new app is the first to give BlackBerry users access to some of Univision's top-rated programs. Users can watch video from various categories, including football, news, entertainment, TV shows, sports, horoscopes and special events.
The application was developed in partnership with GoTV Networks, a premier mobile media network in the US. The market segment into which the app is being launched is regarded as increasingly lucrative. Recent data from Mobile Media Marketplace has shown that for the fourth quarter of 2009, over five million US Hispanics own a smartphone and more than a fifth of mobile video viewers were Hispanic.
"The launch of our Univision Video App on the BlackBerry platform clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing US Hispanics with a great interactive entertainment experience on-the-go," explained Kevin Conroy, president of Univision Interactive Media. "This video app is part of our strategy to further expand our offerings across mobile platforms and deliver products that are highly relevant to our audience."
