Asia-Pacific to Drive Global Mobile TV Market
3 February, 2010 - 07:52The Asia-Pacific region alone is expected to account for two-thirds of the global mobile TV subscribers by the end of 2013, according to new research from RNCOS.
The new report "Global Mobile TV Forecast to 2013", shows that the number of mobile TV subscribers worldwide will likely grow at a CAGR of over 45% between 2009 and 2013 to reach around 450 Million by end-2013. Specifically, the study predicts that Asia-Pacific region will dominate the global mobile TV market, constituting around 67% of the subscriber base by end-2013.
The report identifies the various countries in the region that will play an important role in driving the future growth of the mobile TV market in the Asia-Pacific region. This includes Japan, South Korea, China, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In addition the report segmenting to various subsections i.e. subscribers, technology, business models and regions.
RNCOS says that the mobile TV market has been continuously witnessing significant development across the world over the past few years, driven by the ability of the technology to stream television content on the move. The analyst believes that the success mantra for mobile TV market worldwide lies in the operators' service pricing models coupled with the availability of handsets that support wide picture quality at high data transfer.
